Recently I was looking at a research publication that's pretty prominent within its vertical. This disclaimer was in the footer:

This information is provided for educational purposes only. It is not intended to be nor should it be used as a recommended standard or requirement in your decision-making.

Why not publish research that is good enough to be used as a recommended standard in someone's decision-making? Why not care that much? Why not have some skin in the game? Why not really try to make it useful for decision-making purposes?

Yeah, I get that we all want to avoid lawsuits and other forms of legal hassle.

But if you're going to publish some research, contextualize it so that a reasonably thoughtful person can do something with it! Don't publish it and say "Just kidding! This isn't really something you should use for actual decision-making!"
