What employers need vs. what developers know

If your only way of deciding what to learn and where to focus your energy is what tech skill is most in demand, then you are using localized bubbles as a career development strategy.I hate this because a localized bubble is usually followed by a localized glut (oversupply of a specific skill, often associated with reduced demand for that skill), which resembles a slow-motion version of the thing I hate the most of all in business: the feast/famine cycle. Over the time span of a career (let’s say 20 to 40 years), chasing bubbles and rushing out of gluts ends up looking a lot less like a steadily-improving career and a lot more like a hamster wheel.Yes, bubbles are a form of opportunity.
