Writing as cause or effect?

Is writing the effect of having good ideas?

Or is it the cause of having good ideas?

I think too many of us think it’s the effect of having good ideas. Of having “something worth saying”.

If you combine publishing (writing in public) with a desire to improve the condition of a specific audience with some tolerance for doing shitty work for a while, I am confident that you will find publishing to be the cause of having good ideas.
