Yeah, there are hundreds of articles about other stuff like growing your list, maximizing your open rate, setting up super-complicated automation, and other tactical details.
I strongly believe that a lack of tactical understanding is not the reason you aren’t using email marketing right now. I’d bet money that how it feels to email a group of strangers is what’s holding you back.
Or maybe it’s the idea that you’re… gasp… interrupting people. Or infringing on their sacred inbox.
Or is it the (very legitimate) concern that your content is “me too” content that is fine to expose to Google’s search bot but that same content would embarrass you if you thrust it into someone’s inbox?
The list of reasons goes on and on. This is all mindset stuff.
I’ve found that really embracing email marketing as a tool for selling your services requires a mindset shift.
I’m going to talk about that in September’s Dev Shop Marketing Briefing.
And to make it more interesting, I’ve assembled a panel of three of your peers: people who are at several stages of adopting email marketing in their business.
Hau is just starting, and Ari and Janelle are actively using email marketing to sell their services as well as a range of products.
I plan to keep my presentation to 30 minutes, but it’ll probably go longer because I’ll be bouncing questions off panel members to get their perspective.
Then, there will be Q&A for the rest of the 90-minute session. If it’s like previous DSMB sessions, the Q&A will be just as interesting as the presentation.
The September DSMB happens on Wednesday, September 28th at 11am Pacific (2pm Eastern, 7pm UK time).
I’ll record it and publish on my website, so no need to register unless you really think you’ll attend.
On the other hand, the only way to get answers to your questions is to attend, so I hope to see you there!
